DESCRIPTION:
A low, bushy perennial 10–30 cm tall, with gray-green, woolly leaves and erect stems. Flower heads are small (3–4 mm), bright golden yellow, surrounded by papery bracts that persist when dried, giving a “strawflower” appearance. Blooms June–September.

PREPARATION:

Infusion/Tea: Steep 1–2 tsp dried leaves and flowers in hot water for 5–10 min; strain.

Tincture: Macerate chopped aerial parts in alcohol (1:5 ratio) for 4–6 weeks; strain and dilute before use.

Infused Oil: Cover plant material with carrier oil; infuse in a warm spot for 3–4 weeks; strain. Use topically.

Powder: Grind dried flowers; add to capsules or poultices for external application.

HARVEST TIME:
Late spring to early summer (flowers and leaves)

HARVEST METHOD:
On a dry day, snip flowered tops and leaves with clean shears, harvesting no more than one-third of any single plant to ensure regrowth.

CONSERVATION (STORAGE):
Air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area until fully crisp. Store dried material in airtight glass containers in a cool, dark place; label with date and check periodically for moisture.
