Our MissioN and motivation

Our main motivation for this project was to improve the use of natural medicine, especially during today’s strenuous – health-wise, times where we see a lot of overuse of strong medication for preventive purposes, ignoring side effects, a lot of disinformation about natural medicine by self-proclaimed experts with no medical or biological knowledge and little interest from young people to develop in the area of natural medicine.

What to expect from herbventure

The main long-term results of project HerbVenture that we are aiming to achieve are increased youth participation in society, fostering entrepreneurial values, decreasing misinformation about natural medicine and the industry in general, including traditional herb remedies, increasing dissemination of the real medicinal health properties of herbs and increasing local, national and international conservation efforts of their environments.

We will achieve this through creating three main tangible outputs and conducting four main activities, complemented by small supporting activities.

Digital Encyclopedia

This output will focus on applying modern online methods to deliver knowledge in a traditional-looking format. Our encyclopedia will provide properties, characteristics, and locale of the most prominent 150 herbs in the regions of all participating countries while showing rural traditions and uses for them with a medical accent and translation.

Online platform

The online platform will provide information about herbs in rural regions, basic information about them and will be linked to the first output. The platform will provide additional maps of climate and information about conservation. This output links directly to combating climate change through knowledge and online tools that will affect rural areas and help in their development.

Handbook on Traditional Medicine

This handbook for youth will cover topics like traditional medicine literacy, use, how to recognize and discard information as well as a focus on entrepreneurship, and advice on local and international efforts in conservation.

All of this, created and verified by academics, will help us develop young entrepreneurs, help us in our conservation efforts in the fight against climate change and promote development in disadvantaged rural areas, as they are our main target.

And...

In addition to these three, we will conduct local workshops with expert herbalists and academics with live examples and fieldwork that will be directly aimed at youth from underprivileged rural areas. After the completion of the handbook, we will also have international training (mobility) that will directly affect 27 young people, promote entrepreneurial learning and get them involved in conservation.
